Durham String Trio

The Durham String Trio was founded and is managed by Kevin and Michelle Odorico (siblings).  Natives of Pickering, Ontario, they have been playing music together and with other musicians for many years. Michelle Odorico (violin) Michelle began her musical training at the age of 4 under violin teacher, Jane Plewman. She went on to participate at the Young Artist Performance Academy of the Glenn Gould School at the Royal Conservatory in Toronto studying under Joan Barrett, Sarah Fraser and David Zafer. In 2012 she completed her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Ottawa where she studied under David Stewart and was the winner of the 2010-11 concerto competition. She has been a member of the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, Le Orchestre Francophonie and the Toronto Youth Orchestra. Michelle completed a Masters degree at the University of Toronto under Jeanne Lamon and Patricia Ahern of Tafelmusik, where she studied historical performance on period instruments.  Michelle is currently teaching part-time and is a freelance violinist performing mostly in the Toronto area with numerous ensembles and also is also a member of local indie band LYON. Kevin Odorico (cello) Kevin first began his studies in music on the violin at the age of 4. After playing the violin for six years, he decided to switch to the cello and began his studies with Joowon Kim. Between 2004 and 2011, Kevin has been an active member in numerous local youth orchestras, which include: The Durham Youth Orchestra, The Academy Symphony Orchestra at the Royal Conservatory in Toronto, and the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra. During that time, he was a part of numerous chamber ensembles which performed at concerts, weddings, and charity functions. To further his studies in music, between 2006 and 2009 he attended the Young Artists Performance Academy at the Royal Conservatory. He has participated in many local music festivals as well as the Ontario Provincial Music Festival where he has won numerous awards and scholarships. Kevin completed his Bachelor of Music in 2015 at Western University in London, Ontario, where he studied cello performance under Professor Thomas Wiebe.  He is currently performing and preparing for auditions for a Masters program.
